Big Thief
Big Thief are having a moment, and rightfully so. Critics and fans are still taking in two amazing albums that the Brooklyn indie-folk band issued this year -- May's "UFOF" and October's "Two Hands." Singer-songwriter Adrianne Lenker, whose otherworldly gifts were on display Monday at First Avenue, treated the packed sell-out crowd to highlights from each LP, plus favorites like "Masterpiece" and "Shark Smile." Such. Amazing. Songs. As Big Thief shifted from enchanting folk to Lenker’s on-her-knees heavy guitar during “Not,” one thing was obvious: We were witnessing a special group hitting their stride and flexing their considerable muscle. Also! Lenker just revealed she moved back to Minneapolis! Really, really hoping that means more shows, more often. If you have the chance to make it to one of their shows, I couldn’t recommend it more!
