New Orleans (Part III) - The Nature

Last post from the New Orleans trip!

The rain finally let up on the last day there, and we were able to get out and enjoy a park. Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve is only 20-30 minutes outside of the city and offers some stunning landscapes. The spanish moss that hangs from the trees is magical, and the huge, lush palmetto plants felt otherworldly. The seventh photo in the series is of the Monarch of the Swamp -- a 700-year-old cypress tree.

Sadly, it was in the lower 60s, and cloudy when we visited, so all the alligators were hiding under the mud to stay warm (learned that from the park ranger!), so no pics of them.
